Sort of like hearing sign F after some weather entries, my husband says it
shows a degree sign and the F for the temperature scale. First few times I
heard that I was totally confused.

Yeh, it's funny how it does that because, at first, you think you have 85
new items till you get used to it, lol.

Hi, a badge icon is the number which shows up after the name of the app.
The mail app is a good example. So, if you have 55 new messages, it will
say, Mail, 55 new items. The Fahrenheit app uses the badges to show the
current temperature. So, if it's 85 degrees out, it will say Fahrenheit,
85 new items.

Hope that helps.
