You can only get three items into the dock without creating a folder (though
it could be a different number on the 6 and 6+).
If you double tap and hold, then you move that item to the dock, so don't
loose it till you hear it's in the dock, but you will havfe either to move
something from the dock first or place that item on top of another, when
you'll probably find a folder is created.
This gets a little more advanced, so will stop here in case you don't need
it and, in any case, as I said, you may be able to get more items in the
dock on a 6.

Thank you for your response. It isn't working though. I held onto the app
until I heard it say moving be my eyes. I kept moving it until it said Doc
phone editing and I let go and it doesn't appear in the dock it goes right
back to where it was at before I moved it. So I'm kind of confused. How long
do I need to keep my finger on where it says doc, phone, editing? Thank you.
