Got it. These are some of the limitations of smartphones

Do not expect such things. You have to understand that in order to make an
iPhone or any such device as small as it is, you have to integrate
components directly onto the board. In fact in many cases you will find
multiple components on one chip. I believe the opposite will be true and
devices will become less user serviceable. You simply cannot have small
devices that are serviceable by users or most technicians. And you also have
to understand that companies such as APple, Nokia, and so on make money on
the hardware more so than the software.

I understand. Given how slim and tiny these devices are, presently there may

such things.

Hello Syed,

iDevices like iPhones, iPads or iPod Touches are not designed to be upgraded
in any way. Apple can of course do some basic repairs like fix a broken
touch screen or replace a battery, but you can't make an iPhone 4 into a 4S
or an iPad 2 WiFi into a new iPad 4G. The same goes for Airport Wireless
devices or the Apple TV. You can't really compare these kind of mobile
devices with computers and it's not as if Apple does anything out of the
ordinary here, I have never heard of an upgradable smart phone except maybe
for those that have a Micro SD Card slot where you could of course replace a
smaller Micro SD card with a larger one.

Take care,

Sieghard

Hi

I know we can upgrade the mac books with ram, harddrives etc, but what about
the devices like iPod, phone, pads and air base stations? Can we upgrade
them with more advanced rams? Or we are always at the mercy of Apple's
business whenever a new version of the hardware is made available in the
market.
