Contacts does support groups, but you can't call or email a group in one go. You can, however, send one message to everyone at once. So long as you don't have your phone set to erase messages after a certain amount of time, you can find that conversation later, open it, and send another message. It will go to everyone you included, without you needing to type them all in again. WhyApple hasn't just embraced groups is beyond me, but there you go.
