Hi,
Here is how I work around this problem.
While listening to a message,
press the volume up button
wait about 3 seconds and
press volume down button.
wait about 3 seconds and
press the volume up button
continue to do this untill the message is finished reading.
I know it sounds weird, but it works for me.
