The way I’ve always done my updating of the software on my iPhone or iPad hasbeen through my iPhone or my iPad. It’s easier and totally accessible.
Settings, General, Software Update. If your battery power is to low, you’ll be given a notification that you should charge your iPhone or iPad or connect to AC power or words to that effect.
