Hi all
I know this lady is or was on O2 and so can confirm that they let you
use Personal Hotspot at no additional charge to your contract. This may
in fact be the case for all UK carriers.

Hi Carol,
Before you can use the Hot Spot feature, I would suggest calling your phone carrier
to see whether there's any additional cost in using this feature and whether they
need to do anything to enable it. I use AT&T, and I don't have to pay extra for
it, but I know that at least in the past, some carriers did charge for it.
Once you've got the go-ahead from your carrier, turn on the hot spot. You can
leave the password as is or change it to anything you like.
Then have the device that you want to use the hot spot check for networks. It
should see your phone as a secure network. When you try to join, your device
will ask for a password. Enter the password on your hot spot screen. Your
device should soon show as connected, and you can then use it online just as
you would with any other network. Keep in mind, though, that you're using
cellular data, so be sure you have plenty so you don't go over your allotment,
since going over can be expensive.
HTH,
Anna

HI all,
I needed to do this the other day and hadn't ever tried it before ...
I found a password there but no indication where the device I was trying to use
should add it.
Can anyone give me some steps, please?
