Hi Keith,

The thermostat works just like a normal digital thermostat if there is no
WiFi, but then you just don't have any way to control it remotely. Somebody
could still set it for a low temperature when away for a longer time to keep
anything from freezing or, for that matter, could have it follow whichever
schedule, it's sort of like turning off WiFi on an iPod, you can still
listen to music and audio books but you just don't have access to the
features which require WiFi. When I went to Maui for holidays in March I
thought I might as well turn off everything including my router and ASDL
modem and I never thought about my thermostat and that of course I had no
way to control it. I had a tile layer finish a bathroom renovation after I
left and when I came back almost 3 weeks later my house had been quite a bit
warmer all that time than it had to be and I could have turned the heat way
down had I not turned off my modem and router. Oh well, I won't forget about
this next time.

Regards,

Sieghard

What happens to thermostat function if there is no WiFi for an extended
period?

Here in the northern US, folks may winter in the southern US for 3 to 5
months, and they often temporarily discontinue their cable / broadband. Does
the thermostat still function if WiFi is stopped? Or, if folks move from
their home before it is sold, do they need to continue WiFi service to keep
a functioning thermostat?

Paul, Shane and Hope,

Brett posted this in his message and you really do get the most information
by reading up about the details on the website. Here it is again:

http://www.RadioThermostat.com

You can buy the thermostat right on the website by going to the "Buy Now"
link. The price is $139, Brett said in his post he bougtht his from Home
Depot for $99 and as I mentioned, you can also find this on Amazon:

Amazon.com: Homewerks Radio Thermostat CT-30-H-K2 Wireless Thermostat with
Wi-Fi Module, Dual Wireless Inputs and Touch Screen

http://www.amazon.com/Homewerks-Thermostat-CT-30-H-K2-Wireless-Module/dp/B00

04YZFU1Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1343962818&sr=8-1&keywords=ct30+thermostat>
&qid=1343962818&sr=8-1&keywords=ct30+thermostat

If the link wraps and doesn't work, just search on Amazon for "CT30 WiFi
Thermostat" and you'll find it. The price on Amazon varies, when I just
checked it was available for $125 with free shipping.

And yes, the app is accessible and in the most recent update the ability to
set up schedules right from the app was added.

Regards,

Sieghard
