I currently have both an ipod touch 5th generation and the first generation
ipad mini. I'm trying to decide if I should get the new ipod touch or an
iPad mini 2. It's my understanding that the ipod touch 5th generation and
the first generation ipad mini probably won't be able to run ios 9.

I read, a day or two ago, such a story from Apple Insider. Perhaps it is my
pessimistic nature, but the story had the feeling of a rumor or wishful
thinking. The iPod Touch is my preference, so if a new one did come out,
I'd probably get one. I'm not holding my breath though (Smile).
