You know, I used to switch back and forth among keyboards when writing in differnet languages, but now, I just double tap and hold on the letter that I wish to accent and wait for the little three chime sound and drag my finger and all the various alternative characters show up. Umlauts, accents, inverted questionmarks and exclamationmarks and so on. Saves me the time of switching keyboards. I do still have the other foreign language keyboards for dictation, but don’t use them any moare for typing.
The one thing that does bug me is that even though I’ve got Spanish Mexico selected as one of my languages with Voiceover, when I switch to the Spanish language keyboard, Spanish Spain is used. But that’s not here nor there for Braille I suppose. I speak german and do write emails to friends and family where sometimes I want the german Umlaut characters and I can get these simply b adding the german keyboard in Settings, General, Keyboards. If you add an additional keyboard there will be an icon to switch keyboards at the bottom left of the on-screen keyboard, just to the left of the spacebar. The beauty here is that as soon as I switch to the german keyboard I can also use dictation and dictate in German.
