Spotify spoiled me on the sound quality. I have one of the older Klipsch iGroove docks with this Lario HD music receiver that plugs into the 30-pin to be able to receive Airplay. For the longest time, I kind of thought Pandora was hitting the limits of what the speakers could do until I got that $0.99 trial they had on Spotify awhile back. To me, I'm glad to say I didn't give anything up with going to Apple Music when it comes to the sound of it, and sometimes it does seem better, depending on what the recordings had to begin with.

Hi,

I am pretty fussy about my sound quality so I have tested apple music against spotify and Deezer, both through a stereo and different good quality headthhones.

I think Apple music does sound better, with better stereo seporation and more room between instrements.

Therefore from my personal experience only, I would have to conclude that AAC is a suppearior codec over MP3.

Cheers,
Brett.

Hi,

Soundquality. Apple Music vs. TIDAL - i can’t hear any difference with my 52 years old ears. Apple Music from iPod connected to the amplifier via the lightning port. TIDAL app on the mac connected to the same amplifier via usb.

Take care
