You will not damage a device which comes with a 5 Watt charger by using a 12 Watt charger or vice versa. If you use an iPhone or Apple Watch charger on an iPad it will charge but probably very slowly. If you use the iPad charger for an Applke Watch it will simply draw the current it needs, remember that wattage is only one measure and voltage and amperage are also factors. That is the reason why an iPad doesn't charge on a computer's USB output or maybe just barely, I believe a computer USB output only outputs 500 Milliamps and the iPad charger has 2.1 Amps, about 4 times as much.
