That works! – – I did try to rip a cd to iTunes with apple lossless alac to the 
library and selected one lossless alac song with quality of 906kbps to a 
prefered playlist. This apple lossless song stay lossless in between the lossy 
256kbps quality apple music songs. That is cool. On the mac. You have the 
possibility to make a favorite special playlist with lossless quality 906kbps 
songs. 

I opened the apple music app on the ipod touch and the song was in the playlist 
there too. It is uploaded via icloud indeed, but i don’t know if it is still a 
lossless song of 906kbps quality. Don’t count on that. Could not find out any 
information of the bit rate in IOS. It is probably 256kbps like the rest i.e. 
converted down.

iTunes Match is now iCloud Music Library. So providing it is enabled via a 
checkbox in iTunes' preferences anything you import should automatically upload 
to your iCloud Music Library.
