My thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. I will check out the Bank of America app. In the meantime, there are other instances of VoiceOver's failure to activate buttons. The other day, while filling out an Apple-generated survey to praise a helpful customer service rep, I had to re-load a page in order to make VoiceOver select the radio button indicating my supreme satisfaction with his advice. Ironic indeed. (smile)
