You may want to ask [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> to get an authoritative response, but my sense is yes, this is possible.
Once you have done x number of pages and saved the file. Come back later, open file explorer, open that file, double tap on batch mode, set your profile, then double tap on add page to document and that should get the process going. But, I’d run that buy [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> to make sure. Note that the paragraphs and separate pages won’t be saved, it will create basically one big paragraph for the two pages or one page if you don’t do two pages at once. I’m planning on buying the app once another iTunes gift card deal comes around. I’m going to give a crack at scanning a Spanish language paperback book that I can’t otherwise find in any sort of digital format. I doubt I’ll bang out this 500 plus page book in one scanning session though. Can I break up a batch scan and add on to a previously created file or how would something like that work for a book scan? It will be my first attempt at scanning a book with just the phone and my Stand scan so I wasn’t sure. I figured I could knock out a bundle of chapters at a time. I’ve got K1000 on my Windows PC with Jaws, but honestly, I’ve never really gotten into the groove of trying to scan multiple pages as in a book with all its other keystrokes and menus and such. It’s never really felt intuitive enough for a larger scan project beyond the odd document or letter. Thus my curiosity with KNFB Reader as a faster and user friendly solution. If it works, I’ll be making it more of a habit of buying more foreign language books on Amazon. I have had excellent results with stands with no lights, in spite of what it says below. >From the 2.0 User Guide: In stand picture mode the KNFB Reader app will take a picture automatically when no movement is seen by the camera and text is detected. For best results a stand with lights for the viewing area should be used. The typical workflow when using a stand is: Double-tap the Select Profile button. Choose Stand Picture in the profile picker. Then you get the message First place device on empty stand and tap OK. You will get this message every time you move the device while in Stand Picture mode. Make sure there is no document in the stand and place your device on the stand and tap on the OK button. Now the camera calibrates for best performance. This is indicated by a short double beep. Once you hear this beep you can place the document you want to read within the viewing area of the camera on the stand. When the camera detects that a document is being placed in the viewing area a continuous tone is provided to let you know that the document is being seen. this tone stops when movement stops and text has been detected, then, after a short silence while the presence of text is confirmed, KNFB Reader will say: text found as the picture is taken automatically. Switching KNFB Reader to batch mode while using a stand is especially useful for capturing and reading multi-page documents such as magazines and books, With batch mode switched on and your device placed on a stand, approximately 12 inches from the reading surface you can then place pages in the camera viewing area while the picture is taken automatically. Note that automatic text detection from a stand also works when flipping pages of a multi-page document placed in view of the camera as well, but be sure to hold pages down at the edge so as not to block the camera from seeing all of the text. -- The following information is important for all members of the VIPhone list.
