Hi Rose,
It really is a simple process, I will explain it one more time and if you follow these steps it should work just fine. 1. After you start the process of adding a fingerprint, place the finger you want to use on the hone button. You will feel a very small and short vibration each time a successful reading is taken. 2. After the vibration, lift the finger and put it down again in a slightly different position, repeat after each vibration trying to cover most of the area between your finger tip and the first joint of your finger or thumb. 3. At some point you get that message about adjusting your grip and to capture the edges of your finger. If you simply swipe left or right around the screen you will find a “Continue” bvutton. Double tap it and then again place your finger on the home button and as requested do it more towards the edges of your finger. 4. After another set of readings you will get the message that Touch Id is now ready. Make sure when you put your finger on the home button to put it straight down, don’t put it down and then move or slide it around because maybe you only have half of it on the button, just lift it and continue, it will take as many readings as it needs to make sure it has a good image. For me, it just isn’t going to happen as nothing works and I eventually end up canceling out. I am not normally terribly patient but I’d think trying to do this for more than 20 minutes at a time would be enough. Just double-tap the Continue button, move the phone about slightly, and then you can finish the process. You'll know it's over when the phone says "Touch IS is ready". See family about once a month if that. So if it does not work, it won't and for me, the only person I know that it does not work for, it won't work. Just tried again with 9 update, same results, absolutely none. I probably typed them off with more than 39 years of doing transcription, don't laugh, my mother applied for a job once at a school and they could not get fingerprint on her she went back four different times before they finally got some. So I suppose the same could be true for me since my cousin says I inherited her fingernails. For those who have poo-hooed me in the past, don't bother, I already know you think my theory is not possible, don't need to hear it again. For me, fingerprint is not happening and I surmise never will. I chose not to do the fingerprint, as that seems more complicated to me. However, now anytime I want to do anything, I have to enter the passcode. Does that include answering phone calls? I hope not, as that is very annoying, and takes a little bit of time to enter the passcode, and by the time you enter it, the call will be ended. Thank you, Dacia PS, if I want to disable the passcode, what I go into settings, and touch ID, then do something from there?
