Hello Hope, The latest version of TV Guide Mobile is VoiceOver accessible albeit not to the extent as the version 4 series. However, the developers of the app are aware of the problems.
Having said this I will paste in a message I posted to the list describing some of the current problems and request that you send feedback to the developers as others have done. The more people who write in, the stronger our case is in requesting better VoiceOver accessibility. Just so you know, the latest version of the app launches a kind of introduction tour that you must complete in order to get to the app, itself. There are several ways to complete the tour the simplest of which is to turn off VoiceOver and single-finger slide to the left several times. Then, turn VoiceOver back on. Now, explore the screen and you will discover a finish button. With VoiceOver on, however, you can quickly navigate the tour by single-finger tap-and-hold while you slide from right to left several times until you reach the screen containing the Finish button. Once inside the app, you will discover 4 buttons near the bottom of the display. Select the one labeled Listings and you should be on your way. Okay, below my signature line, I will paste in my previous post on this matter; hopefully it will provide you with some useful information. Mark Subject: A CALL TO ACTION: Support TV Guide Moble Users by Sending A VoiceOver Accessibility Request/Feedback Report Message: Hello Everyone, Please join me in submitting a VoiceOver accessibility bug/feedback report to the developers of TV Guide Mobile for version 5.0 which was released on Wednesday, September 30, 2015. Thank you for your support. Mark To send your feedback to the developers of TV Guide Mobile, you may: 1. [BEGIN FEEDBACK] Subject: VoiceOver Accessibility Problems To Whom It May Concern, Thank you for providing VoiceOver (Apple's software screen reading solution for the blind and low vision) accessibility in TV Guide Mobile. In the latest release posted in the App Store on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, the following VoiceOver problems exist and, on behalf of all of us who are blind or low vision, I would greatly appreciate your attention to resolving them in the next release. 1. The TV Guide Mobile app's Introduction Tour is inaccessible via VoiceOver. Currently, there is no way for a blind or low vision user to easily navigate or exit the tour. 2. In this latest release of the app, in the channel listings view, VoiceOver only announces the channel number. As with previous versions of the app, the channel numbers should be announced along with the call letters; for example, VoiceOver should say something like, "Channel 2, KCBS." 3. In this latest release, the ability to place VoiceOver focus on any item in the table is broken. In previous versions of the app, in the channel list view, a VoiceOver user could place focus on any item in the table. This is crucial to affectively (1) navigate the table and (2) drill down to subsequent item information such as program descriptions. For instance, in previous versions of the app, one could single-finger, double-tap the channel number in the left most column in order to bring up the program listings for that specific channel. While this functionality does exist in the current version, because of the focus problem, it is inaccessible to VoiceOver users. 4. The bottom row of the display, containing the Listings, Watch List, Tonight, and More buttons are extremely difficult to access when VoiceOver is enabled. A VoiceOver user cannot simply use the explore-by-touch method to locate and subsequently activate these buttons directly but, instead, has to swipe (a VoiceOver gesture) down the entire display in order to gain access. 5. In the Channel Listings view, the Menu button, located in the upper left corner of the display, and the Search button, located in the upper right corner of the display are unlabeled. When focus is placed on either of them, VoiceOver merely says, "button." Thank you for taking the time to read this report and if I can assist you in resolving these issues, please do not hesitate to contact me.
