The off line music won't play either, without an active subscription.
Otherwise, people would sign up for a subscription, download their fill of
music, then cancel the subscription.

As others have said, the music will show up on your devices, but they will
be unplayable unless you pay the $10 a month or purchase the music from
the iTunes Store. What I haven't seen so far is this does include any
music you make available offline.
