If you use labels in the Gmail web interface, the Gmail app lets you apply multiple labels to a message at one time, which is something that you cannot do with Gmail in basic view on the web. I used the Gmail app for a while and the switched back to the native mail app, mainly because I was not able to access beta test invites sent through Test Flight in the Gmail app. Whereas, with the native Mail app, the graphical links hsowed up fine and I as able to accept the beta requests. Also, having the ability to delete messages with the rodar is much smoother than finding the delete button in the Gmail app.
