Sprint's not going to domestically unlock anything before an iPhone 5. I got my
4S internationally unlocked, but no luck with domestic useage. Has to do with
some sort of FTC regulations and Sprint just being difficult.
As far as bringing a CDMA device to Sprint though... You should have no problem
unlocking the Verizon 4S, but I’m not sure if verizon and Sprint are compatible
even though they are both CDMA. Especially since it's an older phone.
Needless to say, I'm done with Sprint branded devices. Straight GSM for me.

Subject: Unlocking a 4s to give to a family member

Hi All,

I want to give my iPhone 4s to my step-daughter whose phone got
destroyed. The thing is, I am with Verizon and she is with Sprint. I
thought I could call Verizon and get an unlock code which would permit
her to activate the phone with Sprint. However, someone told her (it
may have been someone from sprint) that they won't allow her to
activate an unlocked phone older than an iPhone 5.

I have no experience with sprint or with passing along an old iPhone
and I'm wondering if this is true. Can anybody shed some light on this
issue?

Thanks,
Kimber
