Hi, You have to enter your password for the first download yes, but the TV gives you the option to remember your password for future downloads. Since I didn't know that the remote would behave in the way it did I let it remember my password as I live on my own and reasoned that there wouldn't really ever be a situation where someone else would be alone with the TV in my flat.
