I have two thoughts about the 4s upgrade. First, if you like the small
format, a strong iPhone rumor is that Apple will introduce a four-inch
iPhone with the iPhone 7 in September 2016. Many like the ability to
navigate the phone with one hand, something more difficult to do with
the iPhone 6 series. If you really want a new small format iPhone,
then it might be worth waiting for the iPhone 7. If someone is a big
user of Braille input, which was introduced in iOS 8, then a bigger
size screen with the iPhone 6 or 6s and the plus versions could make
sense. People report that they do not need to align their hands in a V
formation to type Braille characters with these iPhones.

Second, I generally suggest that people buy the current iPhone model,
which is the iPhone 6s or 6S plus at present. This is because if the
iPhone is placed in a hard-core case to securely protect it, the phone
hardware will likely last longer than its software and most desired
features. All iPhones have an expiration date. This is when Apple
stops issuing new iOS versions that support them. While the phone will
still operate, aps will not update and new features will not be
available. Financially, it is better to buy the latest iPhone and
update in three or four years rather than update every two years with
last year’s iPhone. Over the long run, more money will be saved on
stretching out the upgrade cycle than with buying old iPhones every
two years.
