If you're using the BANA code, 'you can't enter a smilieface or frownieface, 
though, because the symbols are exactly alike, in terms of how they look in 
Braille. If you use UEB, however, you can make smilie/frownie faces, since left 
parin and right parin are now two distinct symbols. I'm not sure what the 
symbols are, however, since I haven't yet transitioned to UEB. This info is 
well documented, however. I think NBP (National Braille Press) published a 
guide to the changes from BANA Braille to UEB. It's free. If NBP wasn't the one 
who published the guide, someone else did. Maybe it was BANA themselves? It's 
some organization like that, however. Hope this helps.
