It is supposed to work the same way, but it doesn't. When in the reading
list for Safari, Flicking up or down and double tapping delete does not
delete it. I posed this question a couple weeks ago, and assumed, when I
got no response, that nobody else knew how to delete these items
either. Also, When in the reading list in Safari, there is no edit button at
the bottom of the list, as there is in the regular bookmark list, only a
show unread, or show all button, depending on which one is in focus at the
time. At the moment, I don't think there is a way to delete from the
reading list, using VoiceOver.

This works the same way it does elsewhere on the iPhone. When in your
favorites list, flick up or down until you hear delete and then double
tap. You may need to make sure you're roter is set to action first.
You can also double tap the edit button at the bottom of the screen,
double tap the button that says delete the page you want to delete and
then double tap the delete button at the bottom of the screen.
