I do not know that the following will apply in your case. I have an
OuterBox Defender on my iPhone 6, which puts a small piece of what feels
like plastic wrap over the home button. This has developed a very small
wrinkle in it. I thought my touch ID was going bad, until I discovered that
I have to make absolutely sure my fingers are touching the home button
without that wrinkle affecting my fingerprint. Also, I made my ID
fingerprint without a case on my phone. When I take these two things into
consideration, Touch ID works as it should.

Has anyone noticed that Touch ID is very inconsistent? I had it configured
on my 6 until it would not recognize the fingerprint.... deleted and
re-did
the fingerprints only to have it to the same thing "try again" I know that
fingerprints cannot be sweaty, dirty or anything of that sort or they will
be unreadable but it's very inconsistent at least in my case.
