I like the QardioArm, but I have trouble turning it on. It says something pulling a tab, but I’m not sure which tab. I always have to take the battery door off and put it back on to activate the unit. I guess I am going to send my Amazon unit back, though, since after I spoke with the customer service guy he must have assumed I definitely wanted to return it although I hadn’t quite decided. In any case, a few minutes after the call I received an email telling me that the return process had been initiated. Ordering from the company did end up costing $9.50 shipping, but for some reason they did not charge any taxes (we have 12% sales taxes here in British Columbia) so while the Amazon unit cost $124.99 + the taxes for a total of $139.99 (that is with free shipping) the one from QardioArm was just $104 + $9.50 shipping for a total of $113.50 so about $26.50 less. I’ve contacted Support twice about the app not being totally accessible, though I can get readings of blood pressure and pulse from each reading, and previous readings, without difficulty. There is an option for the device to take 3 consecutive readings with only a brief pause between them, but I haven’t been able to change to this setting from within the app. They did tell me in November that they had engineering working on it, but by March it still wasn’t fixed. They did seem receptive, again in March, when I pointed this out. I haven’t checked this functionality recently. Be sure to check your new unit against a known good arm monitor or one at the doctor’s office. While I was in rehab following an accident last year, an aide used a wrist monitor on me and read more than 100 points high. He was going to write it in the log until I complained. We settled on a reading that was only 40 points high and I told the nurse.
