I did eventually get it sorted out, but I can't explain what was going on. What 
I ended up doing was clicking the button that said "share from a different 
Apple ID." I then entered the info for the same ID I had been trying to use all 
along (it's the only Apple ID I have), and everything worked as expected after 
that. Not even the guy from Apple accessibility could explain it. But at least 
it's all set up now.
