I read a review a few months ago on the various digital personal assistants. It was interesting in that it pointed out that Apple's approach is to make it easier to use your device, which is why Siri is so good at launching apps and interacting with the default Apple apps on your iPhone. Google's approach is more to help you figure out what you should be doing and where you should be going, which is why Google Now is so good at letting you know when you should be leaving for a meeting without even being asked. Of course, each assistant is working in on filling the gaps, so except for some new wow factor, I suspect you'll being seeing these digital assistants getting closer and closer together in their feature set.

Siri works great for doing tasks on the phone. However Siri is woefully
under par when it comes to searching for info. For most general
questions, she says: I have turned something up on the web. She worked a
lot better when her search engine was Google. I don't care for bing's
search engine. It doesn't give as good results and is not as crisp as
Google. I wish that Google was the default search engine for Siri again.
To me, she worked much better then.

I will admit that working with Siri can be challenging, and it is
true, it does make a difference how things are said. But with a
little practice, once you find out what works the best, Siri can be
very helpful in achieving task quickly.
For example, when adding an appointment to my calendar, I learned that
the following works the best for me.
I say, schedule, name of appointment,, at, time of appointment, day or
date of appointment.

And I just tried to schedule an appointment at 4:45, and I did not
have a problem. I tried saying both, 4:45, as well as a quarter til
five, and Siri did it both times.

Now, I will agree, Siri could use some improvements, and I do look
forward to see what ios 10 might bring.
The way I look at it, even though Siri is definitely not perfect, I am
just proud to have her assistance to do what she can. I know that
with time she will continue to get better and do more.

Sorry about the previous blank message. I usually use Siri either to
get the weather or when I'm on the move and need to schedule an
appointment or send a text. I have noticed a deterioration since IOS
9 came out. For example, I will attempt to schedule an appointment at
4:45, and Siri will insist on scheduling it for 4:00. I am trying to
be patient, but this is beginning to be a problem. I usually only do
this when I'm on the move, as stopping to use the Braille or onscreen
keyboard is not convenient at those times. I ope this improves in IOS 10.

dictate the text of what I want to say including saying
period at the end of a sentense and use the voice enflection
