Hi there,SieghardThank you for letting me know this. I was wondering if she had given me incorrect information. So I did more research into it. It wasn't easy to find, honestly. But I did discover he was incorrect. I am at a loss as to what to do. I really don't want to devices. I mean, that does seem kind of silly. I know why people do it, and I know why I want to do it. But I don't really have the money to put in to buying a brand-new iPod, and they do have refurbished one. That was supposed to be, they do not have refurbished ones. I just want to be able to enjoy my shows and stuff, without having a lot of distractions. But then when I worry I'm not getting my texts or things of that nature, I get concerned and I am missing important things. Sometimes I am, and sometimes I'm not. I wish I had purchased an iPhone with more memory. But I can't upgrade for a while now. Mine only has 16 gigs, but it looks more like I only have about 11 gigs every level. I think the last time I looked I had a little over five gigs of space. So that is hard to work with. I would like to put audiobooks, and some music, and some other stuff on my phone. But I haven't used iTunes in a long time, and I am not fond of it. When I did use it, I hated it! But I know I am not the only one that feels this way. So maybe I will use dropbox after all, at least as much as I can. Well I appreciate you and the list listening to me ramble. I just needed to get this stuff said. I guess I will stick with just my iPhone for now. Maybe I could take some applications off of it that I really don't use, and that might give me more space. I don't know.
Thank you so much! Terri Sent from my iPhone

For either the fifth generation, or the sixth generation. So I did this. When I couldn't find anything, I decided to call Apple. I spoke with a very nice lady who told me that they had not had any refurbished models for at least a couple of months now.I asked her if you knew whether or not the fifth generation would support iOS 10. She said that it would. So now I am rather confused why summer you feel that it won't. Where have you read this, or heard this? Why would that lady be wrong? I'm not saying she is or isn't, it's just something I'm curious about. I want to learn more about this, so I understand this. I don't know if Apple will update the iPod line, just throwing something out. While having the latest and greatest may not be important for you, realize that as time goes by, certain new features may not be available. I would also advise waiting a few months to see what happens with new hardware and price ddrops, but if you really don't mind having older equipment, then go for it. Yes you should be able to update your apps, but again, if they add features which your hardeware does not support, then you will not be able to use those features. Also, from time to time apps drop support for older hardware in order to stay current. I don't know if this will happen with the iPod 5th gen, but it is possible. You could always run the version you had currently on your iPod, but there is no guarantee that you will always be able to update to the most recent version of the app, especially since the iPod 5 will not be supported by ios 10. So if having the most recent version of the app is important to you, then you should maybe wait, continue to save until you could get an iPod 6.ChrisOn Jul 25, 2016, at 1:02 PM, Terri Stimmel <icecreamlove...@outlook.com> wrote: Hello everyone who has contacted me, regarding my iPod touch questions. I really appreciate it. I know I should probably buy the latest iPod. But the money just isn't there right now. Plus I don't need it to do everything. I also realize that I could put stuff on my phone, and listen to it that way. But I honestly don't have a lot of space left on my phone. It is a 16 gig model and I think it have about five gigs of space left. I know I could put it on disturb also. However, I don't really want to do that, because I get some important texts and calls during the day. So I wouldn't want to miss those, because the Phone was on do not disturb. So this is why I have decided to go with this generation iPod. Long as I am able to do what I want with it, and that is fine with me. Now here is my question. If my application such as, Spotify, tuna in, 50 radio Pro, and maybe a couple others I can't think of at the moment, I have updates, when I likely still be able to get these updates? That is my biggest concern! I would really appreciated if anyone could answer that for me. I don't mind if I cannot upgrade past nine. I don't see why that would matter to me, unless it got to a point where I could not do my update for my application. Then that would definitely be a problem. Thank you for all the help so far. It really does mean a lot to me. Sorry this message is a little sloppy.I am using dictation. I have never learned how to correct my mistakes, when using dictation.Have a great day! Probably not a big concern for now if all you want to do is run Spotify, listen to Audio books and so on. Personally I think it's a waste of money, if you don't want notifications while you listen to a book or music just bring up SIRI and say "Turn on Do Not Disturb".As far as getting stuff onto the iPod Touch it is identical to an iPhone.Yes, you can use Dropbox or any number of other cloud services to access stuff inside their apps, but if you want the music app then iTunes is the only way and if you avoid iTunes with your iPhone then you will also avoid it with the iPod Touch. I started out with an iPod Touch in 2009 and then got the iPhone 4 in 2010. A month or two after I got the iPhone I sold my iPod Touchbecause it was just sitting in the drawer. The same happened when I bought my 6S.I kept my 5S at the time and thought maybe I use it at home for Audible and stuff like that, but I just never did because I prefer to use one device instead of two which essentially do the same thing. Learning to use iTunes will make this process much, much faster--when iTunes becomes more user friendly. You should really, really try to get the newer 6th generation because if you buy the older 5th gen it will be of little use to you going forward since it will no longer be upgradeable to newer versions of iOS--you'll be stuck with iOS 9 the remainder of the time you own this device--you will regret it. I really appreciate it. I would wait and save up money to get the six generation model, but it is hard for me to save up money. So that is why I am taking what I can get. Maybe there is not the greatest idea. But I know if I wait for a while, the prices for the sixth generation will hopefully go down. So by then, maybe I will be able to afford one. But for now, I don't really want to wait on that. In all honestly, I don't put anything on my iPhone right now. It's only a 16 gig model, so it cannot hold much. I do read some stuff through to noon, and I listen to stuff through Spotify. That wassupposed to be tuning in. Also, I do have voice reader on my phone, as well as dropbox. But I use dropbox more. I do plan to put all these programs on my iPod, once I get it. But the books, and the movies I would be putting onto the iPod, are currently on my hard drive. So maybe I could put them into dropbox and look at them that way on the iPhone? I don't know. I would do anything not to have to use iTunes. Right now for my phone I have it sync on Wi-Fi. Maybe that is not the best idea? But I will admit, I do not know how to take things off my phone, or really put them on there. I've never done it. Thank you againfor your help. If you have any more advice, or suggestions, I would really appreciate that.Have a good night! You can choose in iTunes to not have anything automatically sync to the iPod. iTunes will show that you have two devices and you can select the one you have plugged in and only put certain things on it. You do not have to enable mail on the touch. I would strongly recommend, however, that you consider saving up for the iPod Touch 6th generation. I don't know how much longer Apple will support the 5th generation and as one who has owned both, the 6 is worth it. For your mp3 books, are you using Voice Dream Reader or just treating them as books through iTunes? Audio described movies will show up in the video app if you are transferring them with iTunes. Or, are these just mp3 files from Blind Mice or somewhere? If just mp3 files, again, Voice Dream Reader would handle them fine and you can get them on your device through DropBox rather than going through the pains of iTunes. I too have an iPhone and an iPod for similar reasons. I wanted to have a device dedicated to listening to music and readingbooks. I find I do other things with it, but those are the main two things.Enjoy, Richard -----Original Message----- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Terri Stimmel Sent: Saturday, July 23, 2016 1:25 PM To: Viphone <viphone@googlegroups.com> Subject: Questions regarding the IPod Hello everybody, I am considering purchasing an IPod Touch, 5th generation. I do not want the latest one, because I feel I just can't afford it. But also, I don't think I need all those features. So here are some questions I have. Do I have to activate male on the IPod. I receive my mail on my phone, and I really do not want it in both places. Also, I have a lot of audio described movies, is there a way to add these to the IPod? If so, how would I do this? Would they go in to a certain folder? Also, I have a lot of audiobooks in MP3 format. Would they have to go in to a certain folder as well? I guess my main question is, can any MP3 file be put on the IPod? Once I add something, is it easy to remove? Also, how do I keep photos off the IPod? Again, I want these to stay on my phone. My reason for wanting to purchase an IPod, is so I can listen to stuff without interruptions.. For instance, I have a Spotify account. I want to put the app on my IPod, and listen to the music from my Bluetooth speaker. Right now, when I listen with my phone, even though I mute the phone, some notices still come through. Even with the screen locked. So I am tired of this, and do not want it anymore. Any help with all this will be much appreciated. I may have more questions to come. Especially when it comes to ITunes. I really dislike that program. Thank you, Terri Sent from my iPhone -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
