I am not answering the question you asked, but I want to say that as a blind person, you'll need quite a bit of sighted help in order to use the Nest thermostat. There are many of its functions which are not accessible.
I have a sighted wife, so once we got all the setup accomplished, I am able to check and modify the temperature for the Nest via its IOS app or via an Echo and a skill, but I cannot program schedules, set advanced features, or even deal with error messages which will only appear on the Nest thermostat itself.
