To restart the watch: Hold in the friend button for a couple of seconds and you will get a pop up screen. Just swipe to power off and double tap. It does take a couple of minutes to totally power off.
Once off, just hold in the friend button for about 2 seconds and release to start the watch in the turning on process. It will take a couple of minutes to completely turn on your watch. I do not restart my watch that often, but if it starts acting funny in any way, I just restart it, and it usually fixes it.
