If you sync your phone with iTunes, you can tell iTunes that certain files are 
to be treated as books. You can even set things up so that your iPhone 
remembers the position in the file. If you select multiple files at once, you 
can even do the changes in batches. I think the command to get into the info 
editor thing is still control+i. Hope this helps.

Like another poster mentioned, you can always put the books as a zip file into 
Dropbox and open them in Voice Dream Reader. Also, if the book only has a few 
files, and they're quite long, you can always just drop the mp3's directly into 
Dropbox without zipping them first, then import them into VDR. I do this with 
GraphicAudio books, which tend to have rather long files.
