Gary, Double tap the message so the screen will open that contains all the messages in that thread. Now touch the screen near the bottom and locate the most recent message then flick left which will move focus up the screen and allow you to view the previously sent messages from that sender. When you've finished, double tap the button in the upper left corner of the screen that will take you back to the main message screen.
