lightning connectors, and one 3.5 mm socket? (My impression from listening
was that the adaptor for 3.5 mm headphones would have one lightning

Over on Mac visionaries, there is a guy who claims that he has seen the
actual phone and adapter, but couldn't talk about it. Apparently he works
with the carrier doing some highfalutin technology stuff. When the thing
blew up over there about the lack of a headphone jack and the problem that
poses for deaf blind people who use hearing aids and voiceover, this guy
came down particularly hard on the gentleman who raised the issue. He is now
saying that he did so because he already knew that it was going to be
possible to listen with the new adapter and older headphones and charge at
the same time. There was somebody else over there who agreed with that,
apparently having seen something somewhere. I did not hear anything like
that during the presentation. I was following blog. Now Daniel is saying
the images don't show that. I certainly have no firsthand knowledge. I
believed the folks over on Mac visionaries.

No, you won't. You can use any headphones that you now use on your old
phone plugged into the adapter that Apple will supply. You can also charge
at the same time using that same adapter. The only thing you can't do is
use the lightning enabled ear buds that will come with the phone and
charge at the same time. That is hardly a big deal. You could also buy
cheaper Bluetooth headphones and use those. You don't have to go by the
Apple ones.

I was also curious about that, but unless I missed it they did not

this. I assume that you can't charge while Lightning Earpods are
plugged in.
It sounds like Apple really wants to go forward with these Airpods
and push wireless headsets. Then of course there are already
rumours that next year's 10th anniversary iPhone may have wireless
charging which would illiminate
the issue.
