I currently also have the issue that when I receive a text message I say
"Reply" followed by my message and then SIRI asks me to whom I want to send the
message to, SIRI does not seem to make the connection that normally "Reply"
means to reply/send to the last received person/number.

I'm not having that particular Siri problem. But I'm still having the strange
problem that is not new, where I will ask Siri for the phone number of
something or someone. I will get the phone number and he will ask if I want to
call, and I will say yes, and he will say sorry, I must've cut you off could
you repeat that. And I said yes. And he doesn't know what I'm talking about or
I will ask Siri to call such and such a place on such and such a Street. He
comes back and says I see only one like that on such and such a Street do you
want to call that one? I say yes. And he makes the call. Google on the other
hand, you tell it to call and it just does it. It's great..

SIRI for me is behaving horribly. I ask it to call somebody who is in my
contacts and SIRI says "Calling so and so" giving the name of the person, it
may even ask if I want to use Home or Mobile if I have two numbers. I tell it
to use Mobile and then it tells me "Sorry I can't make your call" or even worse
" I don't see so and so in your contacts" where clearly it found that person
before and if I ask to show the same person's mobile number SIRI dutyfully
tells me what it is.
I am blaming the update and maybe changes to SIRI Apple must obviously be
making to accommodate the new third-party functionality so hopefully this will
resolve itself.

Whats App by the way had an update today and it said that it now supports using
SIRI to send Whats App messages or make Whats App calls and very welcome also
is the announcement that you can now answer a Whats App call on the lock
screen just like a normal phone call. I assume Skype and other Voip apps will
come out with similar updates soon.

Subject: I also had Christine's Siri problem, or at least one similar

I also had the Siri problem described below by Christine, or at least one
similar. I thought perhaps updating to iOS 10 might solve the issue, but the
problem still persisted. Although, in my case, when I ask Siri to text someone
in my contacts, she wanted to show me all the various contact options I had for
that person, rather than just sending the text as before. Then, if I said text
someone, gave their name and then said just the word mobile and then stated the
message contents, that is when Siri appeared to send the text, but I would then
get the sorry message described below. However, if I asked her to text someone
by saying text and then just the phone number and the message contents, then
the text would go through without a problem. I tried this on both my iPhone 6S
and 6S plus. Note that I had a problem with Siri a few months back, as she
then often seemed to repeat my text messages back with a different accent but
still did send them, and that finally just cleared up on its own.

Then, today, I decided to play around a bit more, starting with my iPhone 6s
plus. I first reset network settings, but that didn't help. I then went into
the iCloud settings on the phone and turned off contacts, choosing the option
to erase the contacts on my phone. I then turned contacts back on in iCloud
settings on the phone and was told the contacts on the phone would be merged
with those in iCloud. I then turned off both Siri and dictation on the phone,
did the restart of the phone by holding down the home and power button for the
fifteen seconds or so, then restarted the phone as it didn't start on its own,
and then turned Siri and dictation on the phone back on. And, thankfully, Siri
once again worked as expected.

I then got my 6s and went into the iCloud settings and turned off contacts, and
once again opted to have them deleted from the phone. I then turned contacts
back on and was told the phone contacts would be merged with the iCloud
contacts. Then, just for the fun of it, before turning off Siri on the 6S, I
tried sending a text message and it went through without a problem.

Now, I'm not sure whether I just lucked into things, or whether having my
iPhone 6S and 6S plus having the same name caused the problem to start with,
but I'm sure happy to have Siri back working correctly again.

Before I give, as copied from the archives since I didn't save the original
one, Christine's original message, I'm first going to post a link regarding a
similar issue from the ATT forums, just to show that we weren't the only ones
having Siri problems, although I haven't as of yet seen a resolution from that
post:

https://forums.att.com/t5/Apple/Siri-quot-Sorry-your-message-was-
not-understood-Please-try-again/td-p/4913404
I have always been able to use Siri to send messages, fully dictating the
recipient's name and the message. Suddenly, there is this bizarre
issue: if I dictate both the name and the message, it is written and repeated
back correctly, but when it is sent, it comes back to me with a message
apologizing, but the message was not understood. Clearly, since it was both
repeated and written correctly, it ininwasinin understood. If I write the
recipient's name in the To fieldeaininorinin if I dictate their phone number,
it works as it is supposed to work. ininAnd, when it does work in that
instance, the number is associated with the correct recipient, so there is no
disconnect between recipients and numbers in my contacts.
I have tried:
1.  Powering off the phone;
2.  Rebooting the phone;
3.  Restoring the phone;
4.  Syncing the phone;
5. Syncing after rebooting both the phone and my MacBook.
I have called Apple twice. Nothing is correcting this problem.
Since I
frequently dictate messages because of severe tendinitis in my dominant hand,
this is actually a rather frustrating issue for me.
Any ideas? Has anyone else experienced this? I am using an iPhone
6 with the
latest iOS update.
Christine
