No, I could find no way around this, thus this feature seems, in my humble
opinion, rather useless. Would be glad if someone can help me sort this one
out, and if this is a bug, we need to report this. If this is by design,
then I would be rather taken aback, as it does make no sense to me at all.

On the topic of bugs in the favourites I have a question: I was trying to
add contacts to the favourites, and it gives me things like "message work"
call work, and so on, after choosing a particular contact. Now, the mobile
numbers in my contact was not labelled that way, so how do you know which
numbers are actually added to the favourites then? I wanted to do this as
to use the "do not disturb" option, but obviously I am not understanding
favourites in the right way now. Also, if I want to add more than 1 contact
to the favourites tab, it seems as if I have to close the app completely,
then go back in, and try to add the contact. I select a particular contact,
for the second one to be added, but the phone adds a completely different
contact. Using an Iphone 6 with ios 10. Any clarification would be
appreciated.

Mark, delete does work. You do not have to open "edit" to delete. Just
flick up or down to delete and double tap and it is gone. I do agree
about reordering. When i flick up the choices I see are more, delete
and activate. More only seems to let you get more information.about
that contact.

regarding the fact that VoiceOver users can no longer reorder
Contacts listed in the Favorites area of the Phone app. Also, the
Delete buttons are no longer VoiceOver accessible. Just so you know,
using the VoiceOver Rotor, one can delete a Contact from this list,
however the Delete button displayed to the left of each individual
Contact item is inaccessible.
I have already written the report so all you need to do is to paste
it into a new email, either in its entirety or modified as you see

Subject: Reordering Favorite Contacts Control No Longer VoiceOver
Accessible in iOS 10.
In iOS 10, unlike in iOS 9.x, when VoiceOver is enabled, the user
cannot reorder Contacts in the Favorites area of the Phone app.
To reproduce this bug:
1.
Make certain that you have multiple Contacts selected as a Favorite.
2.
With VoiceOver enabled, open the Phone app.
3.
Select the Favorites Tab.
4.
Select the Edit button located near the upper right corner of the
display.
5.
Even though the reorder controls are visible on the display, they are
not VoiceOver accessible. It should also be noted that the Delete
controls are also visible but are also inaccessible via VoiceOver.
