If you become stuck in VDR, their help file is very well done. If I don’t use
the app for a while, I refer to it lots.

also, you can rewind and fast forward with the earphones.
Triple click the play button on your earphones to rewind and double click it to
fast forward. It will move according to your navigation settings in VDR.
I just tested it to make sure.
