Hi Casey, You can't use your iPhone like a hard drive. You can go into settings then camera and turn iCloud on and that should help you back up your photos to iCloud. I believe there is an optimize storage thing in there also. I can't remember exactly how it goes right now, but you can using WiFi to back up your photos and only display certain ones I believe. Hope this helps a little bit. If not, you will have to use iTunes. I know that is a bad word right now.
