I agree with much of your Siri rant, but the Home number or Mobile number is not that out of line. I know lots of people who no longer have a Home number, I.E. landline, just a cell phone. So, their home number is now their cell number. Splitting hairs I know, but I’ve run into the rest of your Siri issues and find them just as perplexing.

The "iPhone" label I think might be there if you use iCloud but not for contacts stored on Outlook.com and the same goes for the "Custom" option. Terri, as far as labels like Home Fax or Pager are concerned, I guess that is the same as "iPhone". Yes, you may not be able to send a fax directly from the phone, but as a business owner I appreciate the fact I can store my contact's fax numbers as part of the information I have and label them properly. As for the iPhone label, it is in my opinion silly. An iPhone is a mobile phone and after all, you don't have an "Android", "Blackberry" or "Windows Phone" label, either. In any case, I may not necessarily know if some person in my contacts has an iPhone or not and there is no purpose to that label in terms of iMessage or Facetime since if somebody does have an iPhone and they have enabled these features then when you send a text message it automatically goes as an iMessage whether the number is labelled as "Mobile" or "iPhone". One thing I don't get is the following example: Assumptions: You have a contact called "Allison" You have a hone number and a mobiel number correctly entered and designated as "Home" and "Mobile" for Allison. You use SIRI to send a message, for example, "Hey, are you coming for dinner tonight". Here now the issue: I tell SIRI "Text Allison Hey, are you coming for dinner tonight?" SIRI then comes back at times and asks if it should use Home or Mobile to send the message. I had this happen even if I opened the contact and tapped on "Message" and it asked me to select/tap on one of the available numbers. It used to be that if you selected to send a message or asked SIRI to do so that automatically the mobile number was used. This of course makes sense, but it doesn't always seem to be like that any more. I continue to be astonished by how stupid SIRI sometimes is after having been around for 5 years. I still can't create a contact where I just put the name of a business in the "Company Name" field and then ask SIRI to call that business. SIRI will apparently not at all search/look in the company name field and instead it will try to look up the business online. If I put the business name also in the last name field all is well, but it's absolutely retarded. Also, if I ask SIRI to look for something, for example, a restaurant, and SIRI then starts listing options, when it comes to one I want and I say "Yes" when it asks if I want that one, I usually get "I can call this location or give you directions, which do you want". If you say "Directions" all is well, but if you say "Call" SIRI goes into retard mode and asks "Whom should I call for you". It is absolutely infuriating. Lastly, I recently often have to turn SIRI off and back on because it can't make phone calls to certain contacts, sometimes even those I have in my Favourites list. Right now, for example, if I ask SIRI to "Call my Mom" it asks me which phone number for Margrit Weitzel I want to use. This means aparently SIRI knows that my Mom is Margrit Weitzel and if I ask SIRI to "Show me my Mom's home number" it will do so happily. However, after it asks me which number to use and I say "Home" or "Mobile" I get "Sorry, I can't find Margrit Weitzel in your contacts". This borders on the unacceptable and I wish Apple would get their act together and fix SIRI so it's a bit more useful, flexible and consistent. Also, to me, those labels are some irrational hold over from a time long, long ago. I've seen the iPhone option at times, but at other times it isn't there. Sometimes the default is Home Fax, which I agree is silly; then other times the default is home. Then again, sometimes there is a custom option where you can write your own label. Personally, I think some Apple engineers are just too lazy to fix the labels from whatever ancient template they are using. I hope to be a part of a conversation with a senior Apple engineer in a couple of weeks. I'll see if I can get an answer from him. Just be assured that you are not the only one scratching their head over these strange labels in contacts. Such as, mobile. I don't understand why some of these options are in here has choices. I know maybe it's not really a big deal. But is something that bothers me. Wire for instants do we have a choice of radio? I have course can understand choices like home, and mobile. But I don't really get home fax as an option, because it's not as though you can send a fax from your phone. Or maybe you can now days, and I just don't know that. I also don't get the car option, because nobody I know has had a car phone for years! There might be some other options that are puzzling to me. But these are the ones I can think of at the moment. What the thing I really don't like, is this. Why don't they have the option for iPhone as a choice, anymore? They took that option away a couple of versions back. Then they returned it, I think when we got version 10. But I don't remember exactly. Now it is gone again. I don't like this at all! I like my contacts to be organized properly. I'm very picky about this, and I know it! But if somebody has an iPhone, I want their number listed as an iPhone. If they have an android, that's fine if it is mobile. But I do not like listing someone who I know has an iPhone, with the mobile label. I know this sounds silly. But this is just my choice, and the way I want to be able to do things. Does anyone know when this option might return? Or if it will return at all?
