Well, with respect to using the headset with two devices my Plantronics Voyager
Edge works a lot better then. I actually just paired it with my Apple Watch and
it works great. When I turn it on it will say "Phone 1 connected" and a second
or two later "Phone 2 connected". Then if I am listening to an Audible book on
my phone and a notification comes in on the watch I hear the notification
sound, if I wake up the watch my book stops and Voiceover from the watch speaks
via the headset and as soon as it's done there is maybe just a second or so
delay and my book automatically starts reading again. It works great and I'm
convinced now after reading some reviews and hearing some of the feedback from
Voiceover users that I am going to wait at least until Apple releases the
second generation of Airpods which I wouldn't be surprised will be this fall.
They are too expensive to buy now and then maybe in 9 or 10 months they are way
better and then you kick yourself for not waiting.

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: Re: Apple watch and Air Pods

OK. I can get the watch to connect consistently now but it's not useful as I'll
explain.
You have to hold one of the airpods in your hand right on top of the watch and
with that same hand I hit the airpods button in the airplay menu. It takes well
over a minute, but doing this will get the watch connected. Now stick that pod
in your ear and you're good to go until you get a notification on another
device for example. Then, it disconnects from the watch and jumps on to the
other device. And you're welcome to start over for the watch.
I have a ticket in with Accessibility. I thought they were ignoring it becaue
of some email I got indicating it ws closed, but it's not closed. My
recommendation would be to call in on the same issue because they said they
haven't had much feedback about using any of the watch series with VO. I'm sure
the newer watches are better simply because they respond faster, but htis watch
is supported as verified by the agent from Apple so they do expect it to
perform.
One more quick observation. The watch loses connection when another device gets
a notification etc. but this does not happen between the other devices. I have
a phone for home and one for work, plus an Ipad and a Mac. In those cases, the
new sound, including phone ringing, does not connect the second device. It
would probably be good to be able to control whether this happens or not
because obviously for VO users we get more sound from our devices than sighted
people, but they certainly get phone calls which should be treated differently
from a notification sound in most cases. But I would say I can reproduce
everything I've described here. When I can I'm going to the Apple store to see
what they say and to perhaps try the experience with the newer tech since my
phone is a 6 and a 6S+, my watch is first generation and my Ipad is a little
older too.
