I’ve only used the numbers provided as an indication of relative signal quality between one spot and another; or between one router position and another. I’ve never tried to count on them as an indication of real “throughput” of my wifi.

Even right next to the modem with the wifi on it, it very up and down about 40 points and that is holding the iPhone about two feet away. What is a normal reading.
