something I have found, when searching for barcodes, is that on boxes they are often positioned on one of the narrow sides and all on the bottom face. this is, I I imagine, because it is easier for stock Takers to locate the barcodes when the boxes are all put together side-by-side with their narrow edges facing outwards. or, along the bottom, for the checkout, when they are slid across the barcode reader.
