Thanks, Alan. My first several go arounds trying to follow your description haven’t worked for me, but I’m going to keep trying.
I can’T make it work on the iPhone 7 with iOS 10.21, but shortly after I sent my earlier message, the directions started being announced on my AppleWatch. The strange thing was that the iPhone still showed only the map and the first “real time” instruction. I’m glad to know it worked for you. So, now I know if I keep working at it, it will eventually work for me, too. Keith, I got the full text list of driving directions in Apple Maps after searching for a contact, double tapping on their address, and double tapping on the directions button. The first screen presented shows a map but has buttons at the bottom with miles and hours for the trip. If I double tap on one of those, I get a screen with a list of the complete trip directions. I did note that Apple Maps seemed to time out of this list and return to the map for some reason but I could tell that the entire trip was presented. I thought Google Maps did a better job because its list of directions stayed on screen and didn't time out. With Google maps, I also had to double tap on the estimated trip distance or time to get to the complete list of directions. The disadvantage of Google versus Apple maps is that Google doesn't have access to your contacts. I also wish they would let you share a directions list but I couldn't figure out how with either of them. I hope this helps. What’s the best way to preview a route? I’ve found the route in AppleMaps, but it will only show me how to get started, and, presumably, feed me info as we go. But, it also offers several alternative routes that take a little longer but might be preferred. I’m guessing Maps shows the map, but is there any way within Maps, or by using another app, to be able to preview a route?
