I just read about it in the app store and it said it was compatible with mini IPad 3 and up, but it didn't mention II and below.

I would have to recommend KNFB Reader. That app is normally around $100 but well worth it. I use it every day to read mail. It even can give field of view reports to help you capture the whole page. I haven't regrettd that purchase for a moment and neither have any friends I've recommended the app to.
