Ironically, I feel differently: I've found that my typing speed is now significantly faster because it used to be very slow to enter punctuation, numbers, and to hastily delete a mistyped character. I therefore am a fan of the changes.
I will say, though, that there are a couple of inconsistencies: I would have expected the behaviour to have also changed for the enter key, which it hasn't, and the delete key in the phone app still retains the classic behaviour.
