I'm not getting them with GMX, either. Yet, if I comment on the
particular subject or post, I then start receiving. I looked at
my FB settings, everything looks OK. This simply just does not
work as advertised, I wish it was something to do with iCloud,
but it isn't.

Check your iCloud settings, sometimes when an update is
downloaded it can slightly change iCloud settings, very unusual
