hi,
braille screen input doesn't register in the text field at all. also, if you double tap and hold your message, you now have more actions than in the past, or at least, the actions are now in the same menu.
PS. they've dropped support for 32 bit devices, and anything below IOS10...

Hi,

I find this is true, but not totally true. I just updated and then started a chat. When I was in the edit field where it said “Type your message here” I started typing and with each letter I heard a bonk sound and it is true that I couldnot review what I wrote. But I just wrote to a friend something like “Hey, are you still alive”, when I pressed “Sent” and then checked it did say the time and read out the message. So, right now you are probably better off writing in Notes or another text editor and then select your message, cut it and paste it into the Skype chat window after you made sure it is the way you want it to be, if you use a bluetooth keyboard and don’t mind not being able to review/correct beyond pressing the backspace if you know you made a mistake then you can still type in the chat window.

This is now version 8 something so it seems to be a major update, let’s give some feedback and hopefully Microsoft will fix this shortly.

By the way, the screen layout has totally changed. There are no longer tabs or buttons along the bottom. You now have an area at the top with all the information and buttons, it is 3 lines. On the very top (line 1 so to speak) you have from left to right the following:

Main screen: New Conversation or Contact, My Info, People and Call

Under New Conversation or Contact the following menu comes up:

New Group

New Chat

New Call

New Highlight

Find Bot

Invite People to Skype

Cancel

Under the “My Info” tab there is a section where you can complete 1 of 5 “cards”, haven’t explored this very much, when it came up after opening the app I tapped on “Hide all cards” and that made it go away.

If you tap on “People”, you get a Close button at the top left, the “People” heading across the top and then on 3 lines the following:

Search people and bots

Sync your addressbook

Invite people to Skype

Then there is a “Recommended” section, your “Favourites” section and then all your Skype contacts.

Under calls you have a similar layout, the top line has the close button, then the “Call” heading and to the right of that 3 buttons: Skype Credit Amount, Call multiple people and Dial a phone number

Back to the main screen, underneath that top row of buttons you have 3 tabs as follows:

No new highlights, 1 of 3

Selected, No unread chat, 2 of 3 (this seems to be selected by default when you open the app)

Capture tab, 3 of 3: this gives you options across the bottom, “Open Gallery”, “Capture Photo or Video and “Switch to Front Facing Camera”, at the top left is “back” and the top right is “toggle flash”.

All in all I don’t know yet what to think of this new look, I’m sure it’s designed to be visually more appealing, it all seems to be accessible with the exception of the text chat edit field.

Hi folks

A Dutch guy I know has noticed that the chat in skype became totally inaccessible. Voiceover does nolonger give any feedback.

So, if skype text chat is important to you, do not update!
