Hi,

It is exactly the shape of the current iPhones, but all 3 new iPhones now have
also a glass back (again) since the iPhone 4 and 4S also had a glass back.
I just Googled iPhone X dimensions and did find the following information on
GSMMarina.com, here they did by the way also say the iPhone X would have 3 Gb
of RAM which I think means it has 1 Gb more than the current regular size
models, but I think the 7 Plus also had 3 Gb. Anyhow, here the dimensions for
the iPhone 7 (regular 4.7 inch screen size) and then the iPhone X, after that
the summary/comparison:

iPhone 7
Dimensions: 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm or 5.44 x 2.64 x 0.28 inches
Screen (diagonal): 4.7 inches
Weight: 138 grams or 4.87 ounces

iPhone X
Dimensions: 143.6 x 70.9 x 7.7 mm or 5.65 x 2.79 x 0.30 inches
Screen (diagonal): 5.8 inches
Weight: 174 grams or 6.14 ounces

iPhone X is larger than an iPhone 7 as follows:
Length: 5.3 mm or just under a quarter inch longer
Width: 3.8mm or just over an eighth inch wider
Thickness: 0.6mm thicker, also 0.3mm thicker than an iPhone 7 Plus
Weight: 36 grams or about an ounce and a quarter heavier (only 14 grams or
about half an ounce lighter than a 7 Plus).

All in all it's amazing that with such a marginally larger size compared to the
regular 4.7 inch screen models they can make the screen even larger than on the
plus models. I think sighted people will love this. I can imagine that this
phone would feel very nice to hold, it will have more weight to it but it is
only an eighth inch wider and less than a quarter inch longer than the regular
size phones now and of course because of the OLED screen and more power
efficient CPU 2 hours more battery life puts it into the league of the Plus
models as well for that. In fact, when the OLED screen becomes standard I could
even see the larger Plus size phone models disappearing unless they also get
the OLED screen and with no bezel and home button I bet they could give these
phones a 6.5 or 6.7 inch screen which is not that far off an iPad Mini screen
and the term "Phablet" would really apply then.

For those who have a hard time picturing what a quarter or eighth inch is, here
something to compare it to:
A quarter inch is 6mm. The current iPhone 6, 6S or 7 are 7.1mm thick, this
means the iPhone X is longer than the iPhone 7 by less than the thickness of
the 7 and wider by only half of that thickness.
In fact, the iPhone 5S was 7.6 mm thick which is basically the same as the
iPhone X and if somebody ever put an iPhone 5S next to an iPhone 6S or 7 you
know how almost unperceptable that difference of half a millimeter is, maybe
the same as 2 postcards on top of each other.
I think if you picked up an iPhone X you might notice the heavier weight, but
at first would not even notice that it is larger than a 6S or 7.

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: iPhone X Question

This is a “visual” question, in the sense that it is not possible for me to
gauge by the information out there what the iPhone X “looks like” and will feel
like in one’s hand. When the screen size is described, they say “on the
diagonal,” and they discuss “rounded edges” — but I cannot get a sense of what
the phone would feel like as compared to what it feels like now. Does it bulge
slightly outward toward the center and have super thin edges? Is it essentially
the size of the larger devices now, such as the S’s or Pluses, insofar as what
is held in your hand? I prefer a smaller device, but like the idea of rounded
edges and a thinner body . . . but I am having a difficult time discerning what
the X’s hardware is like. Can someone with some vision describe, or is there a
source which describes this well? Thanks much.
Christine
