The strength of the WiFi signal can be easily verified by checking the status
bar just to the left of the time, if there are 2 or 3 bars then it’s fine, if
there is only 1 maybe it could be a problem.
Most likely the WiFi is simply slow, when I spent a lot of time at the hospital
with my wife last year during the time she got monitored for her seizures we
found the same thing at Foothills Hospital in Calgary. In fact, on the iPhone
the WiFi connection was constantly lost, my laptop stayed connected a lot
better, but it was simply super slow and we just used data most of the time. At
that point we had 9 Gb of data between 3 users where one of them, my store’s
manager, hardly used any, and we went over and I had to buy some extra. This
year we both are on a plan which gives each of us 6 Gb a month and we are going
back at the end of October for more of the same and possibly epilepsy surgery
so hopefully this will be better, I haven’t checked yet if our stay will mostly
be in one billing period, if it is partly in one and partly in another I don’t
think we’ll have too many problems even if we use a lot of data.
I would recommend that Terri should download the Speedtest app from Ookla and
run it when connected to WiFi. Don’t forget that at a hospital you are sharing
this WiFi most likely with hundreds or, if it’s a big hospital, maybe even a
thousand or more people.

Sieghard

Who knows, maybe there’s a bandwidth restriction on the wifi or the signal is
too weak to do more than the most basic of tasks. That and you’re talking about
a building that’s probably got super thick walls that isn’t teribly conducive
to a strong wifi.

Subject: Wireless connection in hospital and odd issues

Hello everyone,

I am currently in 1 of my local hospitals, and I am using the unsecured guest
wireless connection, as this is all I have access to.
However, I have some strange issues, and I don't understand why.

If I try to listen to stuff in my music library, or go to he App Store, with
the wireless connection on, the App Store won't connect, and my music won't
play.

But if I just use my cellular data, things seem to work better.

Also, I have problems with receiving my email, when I use the wifi.

What could be going on?
Why might this happen?

I know from others, and from being in this hospital before, that the wifi isn't
very good.
However, I've never seen it like this.

Anyone have any ideas?
Can I do anything to make things work better?
I haven't updated to 11. Also, I've never used this iPhone here.

Thank you,

Terri
