I've been wondering about the screen brightness and screen curtain on
when using the Camera and other scanning type applications. So as I
suspected, that is not the reason my photos are all turning out to
dark! The fact that I usually have screen brightness completely off
and scan screen curtain on. I wonder how I can improve my photos.

I got pretty much the same results in all cases. I tried to keep
my hand in the same position, but it is impossible to be
absolutely exact which I think accounted for some slight variation.
The screen brightness should not effect any camera based app since
you are not doing anything to cover the camera.
